I'm probably a few rungs lower on the totem pole as I applied to work as a shelver for FREE, and apparently my local library didn't think I was up to the task.
Providence library has an excellent rare magic books collection and you can have a special collections manager come and turn the pages while you read it. When I was at Columbia university they acquired the full collection of mad magazines for their special collections. Imagine how prestigious that felt.
My teenage son is now a library page in an upstate NY public library. I would share this with him, but you know how the kids of well-meaning parents can be: "wow," etc.
